Black Lives Matter

In 2013, in response to the acquittal of the man who shot to death 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, #BlackLivesMatter was founded "to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes." Those who Rest in Power here under the Black Lives Matter banner have also died wrongfully at the hands of police or vigilantes.
