Ulis Williams (1941– ) won an Olympic gold medal for the 4x400-meter relay at the 1964 Tokyo games, setting a world record. Before earning that honor, he was Track and Field News High School Athlete of the Year, while running at Compton High School in California. At Arizona State University, he was two-time NCAA Champion. After his running career, he entered academic administration at Compton Community College in California, where he ultimately became president (1995–2005).
